PORTSMOUTH, Ohio, Nov. 5, 2026: In the heart of the hills that inspired Sam Quinones's seminal book Dreamland, the proudly Appalachian strategy group Liles Solutions has partnered with Rapid Risk Reduction (R3), the company behind ONEbox®, to develop and distribute products shaped by behavioral health providers’ and patients' needs. The Portsmouth firm will connect treatment organizations’ experience with R3’s product development and distribution capabilities. R3’s existing ONEbox, the nation's “AED for overdose,” pairs access to naloxone with instructions that help bystanders respond to an opioid overdose in real-time and empowers organizations with standardized overdose response training at-scale.

Rapid access to naloxone and clear instructions can help bystanders act while emergency services are on the way. Liles Solutions will work with treatment organizations and industry stakeholders throughout Southern Ohio and beyond to identify needs across behavioral health care and guide product development around them. The goal of this partnership is to take the very best of what we know about evidence-based treatment and recovery directly from providers and patients, and combine that with cutting-edge, forward-focused systems and technology that reliably reduce risk for communities nationwide.

“Providers in southern Ohio know how much work it takes to turn an abstract idea into something that helps a patient in the real world, in real-time,” said Max Liles, founder of Liles Solutions. “Rapid Risk Reduction is using technology to flip the narrative of the opioid epidemic in our region from being the epicenter of the issue to the new national hub of solutions. My team will support local patients and other stakeholders with ensuring their experience is in the room before a product is built or improved, so the tools reflect what staff and patients actually need. Not only that, we will happily pay them for the time, feedback, and hard-fought insight they share with us, as that deserves to be rewarded as the real, valuable community knowledge it is.”

ONEbox Classic, R3’s existing video-guided overdose response system, pairs public access naloxone with instructions at the point of an emergency. Opening the box automatically starts an emergency video in English and Spanish; while a longer-from training mode prepares people before an emergency, and a QR code provides smartphone backup. A bystander should call 911 and give naloxone when responding to a suspected opioid overdose.

The initial focus includes learning directly from people working in and receiving substance use treatment, behavioral health services, and recovery support. Liles Solutions will help R3 identify demand strategically, leverage lived experience to guide product development, and build relationships that support adoption and distribution. Providers, patients with lived experience, and potential distribution partners can share feedback or request a consultation through Liles Solutions’ website to discuss ideas, needs, and opportunities.

“People doing this work should have a say and real design input in the tools they use,” said Taylor Golden, Chief Research and Development Officer at Rapid Risk Reduction (R3). “I have had the great privilege to work with Max Liles and his team for a few years now. Drawing equally from his own lived experience and his professional experience in Social Work, Max is, in my opinion, the most talented connector and facilitator of behavioral health innovation in Central Appalachia. Liles Solutions will help us listen to providers before we build, and support us in staying accountable to the people those providers serve in solidarity. We want this partnership to strengthen evidence-based treatment, low-barrier recovery, and accessible overdose response solutions as the integrated, nuanced, and ultimately important issues they are.”

About ONEbox® and Rapid Risk Reduction (R3)

ONEbox® is a video-guided overdose response system that turns passive naloxone storage into an active tool for bystander intervention. Bilingual (English and Spanish) video instructions play automatically the moment the box is opened, a built-in training mode teaches anyone to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and respond, and QR-enabled reporting helps sites track restocking and use. ONEbox® makes public access naloxone usable by anyone, anywhere people gather, from workplaces and schools to libraries, transit hubs, and government buildings. ONEbox® is manufactured by our team in Huntington, West Virginia, and has been deployed with leading institutions including Duke University, Stanford University, Clemson University, Metro Nashville Public Schools, and the State of West Virginia.
