On July 30, 2026, the National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory that included Sunrise and parts of Broward County, with heat index values of 106 to 110 expected. Florida also recorded 921 emergency department visits for heat-related injury among residents age 65 and older in 2024, a rate of 18.4 per 100,000, according to the Florida Department of Health’s Aging in Florida Dashboard.
